I always like to play with my friends where there is no pressure, but maybe the compition will get my game moving. It seems to be getting better, but I don't get to get out as often as I want.

The random pairings for the scramble are what scare me the most -- I'd rather play with my friends.... I get nervous when I have threesome and the starter throws a single into our group....I have only been golfing a short while also, well, just over a year now regularly, before that I golfed once a year as a way to get out of the office for the annual "Law Day Golf Tournament" it was either golf or work. Guess which won out? Even though I had no idea what I was doing, I had fun because I didn't care to learn anything about the game, just wanted to be out of the office.

But you are right - I have to get out there and step up my game p the one time I did play for competition (a lunch wager with my friends, two teams of four scramble) I played amazingly well for my abillity at that time -- hitting my irons perfectly and putting away everything I looked at (couldn't hit from the tees to save my life, but that is the wonderful thing about a scramble -- we had a guy that could knock the cover off the ball from the tee, but was not too accurate and had no game after that...only the big swing). My wife was on my team and she actually hit a par three green two inches from the cup! i guess competition works for her too.

Wish me luck -- Next Thursday will be my first club scramble --If I embarass myslef hooribly and quit the game forever, it will be on your shoulders :)

TadAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11787517.post-1127788237237543492005-09-26T19:30:00.000-07:002005-09-26T19:30:00.000-07:00Tad,It's still early enough in my golf "career" th...Tad,

It's still early enough in my golf "career" that I am still harboring those dreams. I know it's unrealistic and that my progress is due to slow down, but for now, I'm full throttle.

Oh my gosh, why won't you play?!?!? You gotta get in there! Competition rocks. My first one was a scramble. It was a great way to ease into it for me. And we took 2nd place, which was encouraging. :) Just give it a shot. Turns out most other people aren't as good as you think they are.

KristenAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11787517.post-1127787557571779142005-09-26T19:19:00.000-07:002005-09-26T19:19:00.000-07:00Way to go Kristen!!!
